Caol Ila 12 Year Old Reviews

Shows aging isn't everything. At 12, this is glorious.

N: Sweet BBQ sauce.
P: This is the core of all peaty whiskies...love. Watery mouthfeel.
A: Peat sneaks in leaving a mild smoke behind before sweet complete the set. More!

Complex, oily. Great stuff.

Smoky, complex, peppery, oily, with great texture. Superb. I tasted this first on a cruise and had to add a bottle to my stock.
What intrigues me is the hints of olive oil on the palate that persist on the long ending.

Superb. Oily and more-ish.

I tasted this for the first time recently on a cruise and loved it.
Just bought a bottle and tasted it again. I get the fruit, peat, smoke but what hits me is the oily mouthfeel with marked olive oil and pepper. The olive oil character persists on the late palate. Like nothing I have tasted before. Great stuff.

A must

Amazing! So many things going on but in a gentle, nice way. Perfect balance of smoke, just in the background which then comes to the fore. Sweet smell of boiled sweets, peppermint etc as mentioned above and a grwat aftertaste lasting a good amount of time, changing to show an array of flavours. My new favourite (I also drink Bowmore, jura, smokehead and laphroaig, abd this fits in nicely for islay lovers)

One of Islay#s finest

This was the only distillery on the island I didn't get into, it was closed for maintenance when I visited, so I have tried less of their products. This 12 year old is an excellent Islay malt, a bit different to some of it's neighbours on the island, perhaps one for someone new to Islay malts, very complex and a joy on the tastebuds

Great for peat heads

It’s damn good. Deep, luscious, long finish.

Excellent

I bought this very special whisky for my son-in- law’s 40th birthday and he was absolute over the moon with the present as he is very particular about the whisky he likes.

Staple Whiskey & Great service

I was a little unsure about buying whiskey online, but I need not worry.
It arrived fast & well packaged.
I will certainly use this service again, at the behest of a dwindling bank account.
The Caol Ila 12 year, is one of my favourite whiskeys from the £40- £70 price bracket.

Excellent flavour and value

One of my absolute favourites, and the whiskey that first got me into drinking single malts.
