Cameronbridge 40 Year Old 1978 (cask 12987) - Xtra Old Particular (Douglas Laing)

A magnificently well-aged single grain, single cask Cameronbridge! This whisky left the stills back in January 1978, and was then left in a single refill barrel for the next four decades. Once these many moons had passed, Douglas Laing bottled it up for its aptly-named Xtra Old Particular series, with 200 cask strength bottles released at 55.6% ABV. Gloriously buttery and spiced, this one.

    Tasting Note by The Producer

    Nose

The nose shows its USA barrel heritage with vanilla, corn oil and bourbon.

    Palate

The palate is so dulcet, sugared and gently spiced, plus a later mocha quality.

    Finish

Catch early oak on the finish, ahead of more spices, barley sugar and custard.
