Though Cambus remains closed, whiskies from this distillery continue to trickle out via indie bottlers - just like this one from Douglas Laing! It's a 35 year old Cambus single grain, distilled December 1982 and matured in a single refill hogshead. After maturation, it was bottled in June 2018 for the Xtra Old Particular range, producing just 255 bottles.
The nose shows lightly burnt sugar, maraschino cherries and fresh trifle. the palate is rich with burnt toast fresh red apple skins and toasted grain. The long finish is vivacious and sweet with a positively dry and dark fruit quality.
