The Cally 40 Year Old Bottling Note

A single grain whisky in the Special Releases! The first since 2011's Port Dundas and only the second ever as far as we can remember. Caledonian grain distillery in Edinburgh closed in 1988 and is rarely seen - this 40 year old is comfortably the oldest official release and has been nicknamed 'The Cally', as the distillery was by those who worked there.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Coconut, candy lipstick then into concentrated Werther's Originals and richer, spicier treacle.

Palate: Bitter caramel now, warming wood spices, dates and cinnamon.

Finish: Creamy vanilla takes centre stage for a moment.

Overall: An excellent old grain from an all but forgotten distillery.
