An award-winning 16 year old Irish single malt from Bushmills based in Northern Ireland. Aged in three different cask types: bourbon, Port and sherry maturation imparts notes of fruit, nuts and spices – a great example of the influence of different cask maturation. The brand has retained its small batch philosophy for over 400 years, which is wonderful.
A classic Irish nose of honey, yoghurt and tinned stone fruit, this also has a lovely cassia bark character which develops in the glass.
Spiced and rich with juicy summer fruits, Christmas spices, pine oil, manuka honey and peaches in syrup.
Thick and syrupy with notes of red berries and Golden Syrup.
Better than every Whisky I've tried. Amongst all bottles this stands out. Beautifully aromatic with toffee and fruit. Gentle to the palate, honey and peach with unmistakable fragrant bark. The description says "cassia bark" - who knows what that is, but think of a cross section of a thick rosemary branch. Sweet, enriched, woody. It swallows so smooth. A taste that I can't pin, but I was excited for every sip. The biggest downside is that this isn't my daily drinker. Buy it❤️
Had this whiskey with a friend one night and it was incredible. The flavour and aroma profiles was unbelievable. There isn’t any other whiskies in the world I can see compete with this one. However one small change would be nice, it would be nice to see Bushmills up it from 40% to 46%vol. Maybe they are planning it. Well worth the buy in my opinion.
This is a tough one. I really like the taste of this whiskey, in terms of flavour profile I really love it. And the finish is so good, marzipan sticky nuttiness coats your mouth. But it shouldn't be 40% at this price point and it just leaves you wanting that extra oomph that would just take it to the next level. So unless I see it on a good deal I couldn't replace it at this price
It was not worth waiting 16 years for this. Allegedly it has been in 3 different casks, but that's not apparent. It's smooth to the point of superficial, with little to recommend it. Wasted £70+ on this.
Gorgeous. Nutty, fully bodied, smooth, and flavourful. This was the cheapest of 5 exclusive Whiskies I tried and by far and away the nicest. Very pleasantly surprised, can't wait to buy a bottle.
