An award-winning 16 year old Irish single malt from Bushmills based in Northern Ireland. Aged in three different cask types: bourbon, Port and sherry maturation imparts notes of fruit, nuts and spices - a great example of the influence of different cask maturation. The brand has managed to retain its small batch philosophy for over 400 years, which is wonderful.
Nose: A classic Irish nose of honey, yoghurt and tinned stone fruit, this also has a lovely cassia bark character which develops in the glass.
Palate: Spiced and rich with juicy summer fruits, Christmas spices, pine oil, manuka honey and peaches in syrup.
Finish: Thick and syrupy with notes of red berries and Golden Syrup.

i recently bought a bottle of this, and my first impressions were it's a little on the thin side, and nothing in there that made me feel it was that great in comparison to other sherry cask malts at this price point, but i'm now glad i didnt post a review then, as IMHO it has improved over the last month or so, now it's had chance to get a little air to it. I believe it could do with a few more points on the abv. maybe 43%-46% would be good, however i'm starting to get the fruity notes a little better and really enjoying it.

I have not had a glass of this in a long, long time but it is one of my all time favourites. I used to buy it in Duty Free when it was available. An outstanding whiskey, but not easy to find.

Love it so much that I bought a bottle for my son in law's Christmas Present. My New Years Resolution is that my first bottle of Whiskey I buy in 2021 will be Bushmills 16year old.

Outstanding! Presented to me on fathers day. The nose is of honey and nougat with a sweet spice-malty finish. I love this, I will nurse this bottle as long as I possibly can.

I bought this on the back of all the reviews below and am very glad I did so. It really is a terrific whisky. I had the fortune of trying the 21 yo (also excellent) ....but think I actually prefer this one. Highly recommended.

In terms of nose and taste the Bushmills 16 year old is up there with the 21 year old but slightly less expensive. Taste is subjective but it's hard to find fault with this expression - or any one of the Bushmills range.
