Single Malt
Scotland
1 Jan 1987
1 Jan 2016

Another wonderful Wemyss Malts bottling, this time featuring Bunnahabhain single malt drawn from a single butt which housed the whisky from 1987 to 2016. A release of 700 bottles, bestowed the name Scallop Diver's Dram as a hint to the whisky's flavour profile.
Creamy barley, petrichor, a touch of treacle.
Apples and pears, salted caramel, vanilla pod earthiness.
Lingering coastal air.

Wow. I bought the last bottle and am sad there is no other. I could not agree more with the tasting notes nor the commentor as to how it is "Dreamy" and what the person had to say. Period.
I'm gonna go with Wemyss on this one. In addition to an amazing backbone of single malt that might seem unusual for Islay, the 'sea food' notes are there. The combination is sublime, and buttered scallops are followed by and sit alongside ice cream and sugared bread. A sumptuous dram, and iconic for its provenance vs. palate. By far the best Bunna I might ever sample, who knows.
