    Bunnahabhain Eirigh Na Greine

Bunnahabhain's Eirigh Na Greine was originally released for the Travel Retail market, with its name meaning 'Morning Sky' in Gaelic. A portion of this single malt was matured in red wine casks, resulting in juicy berry notes throughout, blending well with the wafts of sea salt and orchard fruit.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Toasted sugar, vanilla, raspberries and a little honey.

    Palate

Apricot, sea salt, black pepper, more wine cask-influence berry sweetness.

    Finish

Smoky and quite long. A little bit spicy, too.

    Current favourite

You really get the lovely rich flavours of the red wine casks in this whisky. It is very enjoyable. There isn't a lot of peat in this but that is typical for Bunnahabhain. What you get instead is a lovely rich and complex nose, wine-cask dominated palate and a pleasant finish. This is a lovely whisky.

    Patience rewards

My first whiff of this whisky was not impressive at all. But as usual I always finish at leat half a bottle before giving my judgement. And this has really grown on me. Very lightly peated, with the spirit on the fore, and the red wine influence speaking of sophisticated restraint. Highly recommended.

    Something new from Bunnahabhain

Nice tropical fruit, light smoke and decent oak. Honey, brown sugar, but not sweet, rather a dry sweetness that sometimes gives way to a pleasant sour note. Gentle spice. Not the typical Bunnahabhain, but a great expression highlighting the essential spirit.

    A good lesson in whisky.

A lovely dram indeed. It's teaching me a lot about the essence of Bunnahabhain. Like The Laddie 10 taught me a lot about the essence of Bruichladdich. The other Bunnahabhain are lovely but always heavy on the sherry or peat. This one let's the wonderful spirit come to light with just the right influence of the red wine. Well balanced slight sweetness and a lingering wine dryness. Satisfying spice on the finish with no alcohol burn. Definitely not a young whisky despite the NAS. If you like Bunnahabhain, this one is a must try to take your senses to new places and evolve your knowledge of this fine distillery.
