    Bunnahabhain Cruach Mhòna

Cruach Mhóna is gaelic for a pile of drying peat bricks and follows on from Toiteach (gaelic for smoky) as a peaty offering from Bunnahabhain. Although Islay is famed for its peat, Bunnahabhain's spirit is unpeated (this being an exception that proves the rule).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Peat and vanilla, creosote, dried herbs, harbour rope, sweet biscuits and orchard fruit.

    Palate

Sweet and smoky, lemon, salt and pepper. Beneath there's oak and malt and hints of sand dune.

    Finish

    More sweet smoke and citrus.

Finish is superb leaving you craving more.

Unlike lots of other single malts, the color are paler. The taste is as good as or better than most known branded whiskies. Complex, peat notes are pleasantly present but not overpowering. Lite smoke, fruity caramel roll with an awesome finish making you want more!!! For the price, I stash a few for my regular enjoyment!!! Five stars well deserved!!!

    Astonishing

Picked up a liter of this duty free on my way home from Scotland earlier this month and it is incredible. Reminds me a lot of Lagavulin 16 actually lots of black tea and tobacco smoke with sea salt.Good and oaky too with some citrus but not too sweet. This is one of my favorite things I have ever tried this is exactly the style of Scotch whisky I love.Bought this partially because of the ratings on here and it did not disappoint this is outstanding buy it if you can. Cheers! The Sugarbear

Excellent addition to any collection of SMS whiskies.

Purchased this blind, on a whim, while in St. Maarten, having tasted Bunnahabhain "Toiteach" not long beforehand. What a happy accident this turned out to be. Delightful, neat or with a dollop of water.

    Complex, delicious!

I do really enjoy Moiné but this is worth the extra money! (almost at least, that's why it only for 4 stars)

    Good dram

Deliciously smoky and rich. A bit marine salty. Fruity and hint of lemon. Biscuits. Spicy in the finish. Beats the he#@ out of Eirigh Na Greine. Good value for money.
