Description
Andrew Brown has been a part of Bunnahabhain's story for 35 years, and he selected this whisky to commemorate the occasion! He began his journey as an apprentice in 1988, unloading the malt boat onto the pier and learning about whisky-making from the ground up. Over the years, Brown's rose to become distillery manager and guardian of Bunnahabhain single malt. Imagine being able to reflect on your entire career through a whisky that's been beside you the whole way!
This single malt matured for the majority of its life in a single ex-oloroso hogshead and finished for six months in a specially commissioned Pedro Ximénez firkin.
35 years of maturation, 35 years of dedication, and only 35 bottles in existence – this is an ultra-rare bottle indeed.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
A rich and opulent sweetness opens with layers of dark, dried fruits, figs, raisins, and dates intertwined with toffee and a delicate nuttiness, with subtle hints of dark chocolate and espresso.
Palate
Luxurious and full-bodied, the palate mirrors the nose with a rich tapestry of dried fruit sweetness, raisins, sultanas, and prunes, layered with cocoa and a whisper of tobacco. There's a beautiful velvety mouthfeel, with notes of spiced fruitcake, figs and roasted hazelnuts followed by blackcurrant jam, oak and touch cinnamon.
Finish
Long, smooth, and warming with a lingering sweetness and a hint of Bunnahabhain’s signature saltiness.
