    Bunnahabhain 25 Year Old

In what will be seen as a positive move to whisky connoisseurs, Bunnahabhain have decided to bottle the 25 year old without chill-filtration and without colouring. Presented in smoked oak glass bottle and aged label design.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Sherried; sweet toffee and polished leather followed by cinnamon and the faintest hint of cardamon.

    Palate

Fruit compote doused in cream and caster sugar, this develops into roasted malt, chestnuts and stewed raisins.

    Finish

Demerara sugar, mixed spice, nutmeg and caramel lingering for long after the final sip.

    Overall

Bunnahabhain with twenty-five years aging opens up the spirit to a plethora of rich, dark flavours that stay with the drinker long after the glass is finished.

    Amazing!

My previous favourite was the Highland Park 25 but it has been surpassed. Absolutely lovely!

    Excellent Scotch

Now this is some nice, nice Scotch. I normally go more for a good Highland Scotch, but I had an opportunity to try this and figured I'd give it a shot. This is a nice, smooth whisky that has just enough of a bite. When some folks say you can smell the ocean breeze in this, they aren't kidding...definitely reminds me of standing on the beach. The palate is nice and smooth with pears, honey, a bit of salt and pepper, and a taste that reminds me of freshly-worked olive wood. The finish is amazing, with a great balance of sweetness and smokiness that lasts a long time.

Well Crafted, Just Not For Me.

From a neat pour the nose presented plums, fruitcake candies, clarified butter, and apple skin. After opening up there was damp rope, saddle blanket, bread pudding, and baked dessert crumble topping. The palate was creamy and malty with vanillas, toffee, baking chocolate, and a faint saltiness. The finish was surprisingly dry and grassy in contrast to the palate, with hints of oak, dark chocolate and salted butter. An enjoyable dram to try, as it was a sample, but the complexity was somewhat confusing given my previous experience with Bunna 12 and 18. I was expecting a greater presence of coastal notes, and found it to be more robust in style rather than concentrated. Well crafted and undeniably Bunnahabhain, just not for me...

    The top of the notch

Nose -cream,caramel,butterscotch,seaweed,ocean breeze. Palate-field berries and cream, salt&smoke, Sherried Finish- gloriously long and sherried with the perfect amount of dryness/sweetness. This dram is in my top 2. If you purchase it you will appreciate and understand the respect this commands.
