The fantastic flagship from Bunnahabhain (pronounced boo-na-ha-ven), launched as the distillery's original single malt in 1979, this Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old. It is aged in a mixture of bourbon and sherry casks and, since a relaunch in 2010, has been bottled at a big 46.3% ABV without chill-filtration or additional colouring. Very impressive. Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old is unpeated, unlike most Islay whisky, but has a beautiful coastal quality complemented by its fruity, light, sweet and nutty character. It’s one of those whiskies that newcomers and enthusiasts alike appreciate.

Fresh, sweet, and a little floral. There’s seaweed, rich malt, dried fruit, camphor, caramel, chocolate orange, and apple poached in cinnamon.
Soft and supple with a nutty, sherried quality leading among vanilla, marmalade, sultanas, and a bright coastal element.
Mochaccino, dried herbs, Christmas cake spice, and a balanced salty tang.

Great value, the first half of the bottle was truly fantastic. Unfortunately it seems quality drops extra fast with Bunna 12 as the second half (I finnished the bottle in six mounts time) was pretty ordinary .
I keep coming back to this whisky after trying many many others. It is absolutely fabulous and fantastic value for money. Rich toffee, chocolate, honey, a little spice, some pepper but no unpleasant burn. This is the one that wil always be in my collection.
My first venture into Islay. Smooth sweet dried friut bomb at first, but then a tiny puff of smoke with a lovely long dry finish. This isn’t going to last very long.....
This is such am wonderful coastal malt with a robust complex flavour and great long finish. But why are MOM charging so much for this? It is only £32 at my local supermarket.
Not for the peat heads, and maybe not for beginners, but for me; one of the best 12 years old I have ever had. A bit of everything, complex and well rounded.
