Bunnahabhain
Scotland
Single Malt
Back for a second year, Bunnahabhain's annual 12 Year Old Cask Strength is here, bottled at a robust 56.6% ABV. The expression takes inspiration from the tasting experience offered to visitors of the distillery's Warehouse 9, where they're able to taste whiskies drawn straight from the cask. Unpeated and well sherried, the majority of the whisky was matured in oloroso casks, with balance brought by a selection of bourbon cask matured spirit. Natural colour and without chill filtration, this is an ace opportunity to sample the single malt in its rawer form.
Chocolate buttons, cranberries, and cherries, with dates and sultanas joining in time, bolstered by woody spice.
Hazlenuts, drizzled with milk chocolate. A touch of salinity is balanced by crisp green apple, poached pear, and clove.
Salted almonds, dustings of cacao, steeped berries, and cakey spice.
This is a great Sherry whisky, loving this , I’m on my third bottle now, this is like syrup, so thick, sweet choc n raisin with Xmas cake vibe, I love drinking this side by side with edradour single cask, bunna is a sweet dried fruit sherry, edradour is that DIRTY sweet dark fruit Sherry , love em side by side, both my fav whiskies for this time of year
I've just finished the bottle I bought from last year. Absolutely stunning sweet and rich whisky. I will be buying another bottle if I can get hold of the 22 might have to go to the 23 edition!
Beautiful sweet and fruity nose, continued on to the palate. This is the kind of bottle that you'll want to be getting for Christmas every year. One of the most well rounded sherry cask bottles I've had, and I've had plenty.
Solid whisky; but similar to what I experienced with some other Bunnahabhain bottles, the finish gives a nasty, dusty, cardboard aftertaste on the pallet.
It's my Go to pour at the moment.
