Description

Buffalo Trace is the flagship bourbon for the eponymous distillery made from corn, rye and malted barley. It’s aged in new oak barrels in historic old warehouses. The award-winning bourbon is batched from no more than 40 barrels at a time, and is aged on the middle floors of the distillery warehouses where the temperature fluctuation is the greatest. A top whiskey, with oodles of vanilla, barrel char and spicy complexity.

Nose

Spicy and sweet with caramel, creamy toffee eclairs, hints of cinnamon, rum spice and cereal sweetness.

Palate

Brown sugar, toffee apple, sweet oak, custard, oily espresso beans, a touch of chocolate-covered raisins and toasty wood.

Finish

Good length with sweet spices, cinnamon gum and toffee.

excellent excellent drink

The best whiskey bourbon I have tasted

Gerard Keenan May 12, 2025

Buffalo

Sorry, but at 40%abv,this doesnt work..too watery, lacking in flavour, too understated and lacking in character..due to some strange UK rule it cant be 45% abv..its bland andboring, even though its only £20..stick to Makers Mark..Eagle Rare 10,Wild Turkey 101..this stuff is p*ss!

Simply bad

This tastes awful. One time was enough, never again. Don't waste your money on this.

The UK market gets the diluted watered down 40% version. Sad but true. That said, it can be found for as cheap as £16 when on offer, and is still better for non-Manhattan/Old Fashioned cocktails (e.g. Paper Plane, Final Ward, Boulevardier) than other £20-30 (regular price) range well bourbons such as Jim Beam or a Tennessee whiskey such as JD. But if looking for a bourbon to drink neat or in a whiskey forward cocktail then don't use this.

Great bourbon

Great bourbon and its price is just a bonus. Nose - sweetness of caramel and vanilla Palate - smooth, bit oakey, caramel cake Finish - Reasonable and sweet Reccomended
