Buffalo Trace is the flagship bourbon for the eponymous distillery made from corn, rye and malted barley. It’s aged in new oak barrels in historic old warehouses. The award-winning bourbon is batched from no more than 40 barrels at a time, and is aged on the middle floors of the distillery warehouses where the temperature fluctuation is the greatest. A top whiskey, with oodles of vanilla, barrel char and spicy complexity.
Spicy and sweet with caramel, creamy toffee eclairs, hints of cinnamon, rum spice and cereal sweetness.
Brown sugar, toffee apple, sweet oak, custard, oily espresso beans, a touch of chocolate-covered raisins and toasty wood.
Good length with sweet spices, cinnamon gum and toffee.

I've been buying and enjoying Trace since the 45% ABV days. Like a lot of people I continued to enjoy it after they diluted it to 40%. It was still a decent drink on the rocks or in mixers. But in the last year (2013-2014) the quality has taken a nose dive. Gone is the complexity, gone is the smoothness. Its still the best you can get for £20 in the UK supermarkets but make no mistake - this is now a shadow of its former self. I'm amused to find myself genuinely angry about that! Why didn't they just raise the damn prices instead of tearing the soul out of what was a fantastic class leading straight Bourbon?
was looking for a descent whiskey to make Manhattans, It came recommended at a duty free store in Michigan after getting used to Makers Mark as the base for the mix drink. I really enjoyed it and bought a bottle of Makers Mark after. to be honest, I am no expert by any means but I think I am going to go back to the Buffalo Trace because I found it tasted better even as a sipping whiskey.
A pleasant Bourbon, but a bit simple and lacking in depth compared to Woodford Reserve and Eagle Rare. A reasonable budget bourbon however and has a pleasant flavour.
Honestly I prefer this to the 45% version I had a few times over the last couple of years. Don't go nuts with the ice: 3 cubes max. 2-3 fingers. The nose hits you even off the table, its wonderfully rich and toffee/caramel. The taste is smooth, as heck. As all heck. Lovely caramelized white oak sugars, toffee fudge and banana. A delicious finish that doesn't linger too long. You never get ethanol at any point from nose to gut. Its that good! This just blows away anything else at the price point. Jack Daniels wished it tastes this great. Beam White can't compete either. There is no better Bourbon for sale in the UK @ £20 or less. Wonderful stuff! I wish the supermarkets stocked more of the top class bourbons from this distillery of which, google assures me, there are many!
I thought that Audrey Hollander was the Kentuckian that I would most like to spend the night with, until I sampled the "TRACE" !!!!!!!
