Buffalo Trace is the flagship bourbon for the eponymous distillery made from corn, rye and malted barley. It’s aged in new oak barrels in historic old warehouses. The award-winning bourbon is batched from no more than 40 barrels at a time, and is aged on the middle floors of the distillery warehouses where the temperature fluctuation is the greatest. A top whiskey, with oodles of vanilla, barrel char and spicy complexity.
Spicy and sweet with caramel, creamy toffee eclairs, hints of cinnamon, rum spice and cereal sweetness.
Brown sugar, toffee apple, sweet oak, custard, oily espresso beans, a touch of chocolate-covered raisins and toasty wood.
Good length with sweet spices, cinnamon gum and toffee.

Hands down best bourbon at its price point it’s punching above more expensive bourbons! Only down side is that it is hard to find in New Zealand.
My benchmark bourbon. This is fabulous stuff and given its price point, truly superb value. Shows that price tag is not synonymous with quality and puts many more expensive whiskies to shame. Appreciate all palates are different and everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but with this one I really am struggling to believe the one star reviewers are actually drinking the same whiskey! Beautiful sweet and spicy nose. There’s cloves and cinnamon, pears, orange peel, caramel, vanilla toffee and creamy espresso, like a macchiato. Some cherry cola notes run throughout. Lovely creamy mouthfeel, the pear, cherry cola and dark caramel deliver on the initial palate, with the spices, cinnamon and cloves, developing in the mid. Finally the espresso comes through, but rather than creamy as on the nose it’s drier, astringent roasted beans (Char influence?). Some spices on the swallow becoming drier, vanilla and cinder toffee. For me this hits the spot on all fronts!
Bites like a junk yard dog!
Not a fan. Very off putting after taste and not much upfront either. Don't understand the accolades. McKenna,Old GD BIB and Larceny- hell, even Bullet are better in this price range.
3 years after trying for the first time and this is still the best.
