That Boutique-y Whisky Company
Scotland
Single Malt
It's the first batch of Lochindaal single malt Scotch whisky bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! Lochindaal is a rarely seen whisky produced by Bruichladdich (there was once a distillery called Lochindaal on Islay, back in the days of yore and yonder), which is slightly more peated than its Port Charlotte expressions (though not as heavily peated as its Octomore). There's loads of cheese on the label, being cared for like newborns. Could this have something to do with a contentious cheese once produced on Islay...?
Batch 1 is a release of 308 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Grassy peat and grapefruit peels, with a whiff of salted caramel brownie developing.
Spicy as it opens with black pepper and smoke, though soft apricot tempers the heat. Slightly medicinal peat develops.
Lasting hints of sticking plasters and fruity esters.
Very surprising dram as both on the nose and palate you wonder where the promised peat is hiding … Then it bursts loose on the finish in a way anyone up for a good load of it will surely enjoy! As a peat lover (ok, call me a peathead) this must truly be one of the most original characters I have tasted over the years and that would be quite some I dare say …
