“Hands down for this beauty! A dram good whisky. Jim Mcewan really surprised me (in a positive way) by releasing this t.r.e. bottle. Good taste with ALOT of character. It's a horsekick, no doubt, but he still managed to hide alot of the powerful alcoholic tones with this complex and heavily peated blend. Safe-buy! ”

Port Charlotte PC12 - Oilenach Furachail

A 12-year-old peated single malt from Bruichladdich, Oileanach Furachail is the eighth release in the Islay distillery's Port Charlotte PC series. The name roughly translates as something like 'attentive islander'. This is a reference to Adam Hannett's apprenticeship under master distiller Jim McEwan from 2006, before taking on the role himself after McEwan's retirement in 2015.

Infallible peated, sherry cask single malt

Smoked almonds on the palate, but enough fruitiness - blueberry comes through nicely on the finish for me as well as the nose - alongside it to make it as enjoyable as it is complex. Extremely hard to find - Gibraltar airport is where I found this! Hopefully they still sell it...

Balance Balance Balance

I can just spend hours with my nose in a glass of PC12. The balance on the nose is just perfect, and the palate is an even bigger surprise. At 58.7% you'd expect quite a blow to the mouth, but this is surprisingly smooth. One of my all time favourites.

Oh yes!

Bruichladdich whiskies always deliver what I have come to expect from them - awesome drams that reward so handsomely when you spend time and patience on them. I have been struggling to get my hands on a bottle of PC12 but finally was successful and boy was it worth the wait and trouble! The sherry influence takes the ''standard'' PC 10yo to a magnificent new level. The ABV leaves much room for water, but really only a few drops are needed to release the serpent. If I could give this 12 out of 10 stars I would. Malt heaven!
