Port Charlotte 6 Year Old 2009 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)

This is the first Port Charlotte single malt Scotch whisky which we've bottled as part of our Single Cask Series! It was distilled in April 2009, allowed to age in a first fill bourbon hogshead for 6 years and bottled in June 2015. A tasty Islay whisky with plenty of peaty notes at its core.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Fresh rye bread with an olive oil, sea salt and black pepper glaze, butter beans, tomato stem, stony beaches and a little bit of soot.

    Palate

Rather orange-y on the palate, with a touch of chocolate malt supporting the subtle sweetness. Peat is light and coastal, though grows in intensity. Quite meaty, too.

    Finish

Rounded toasty barrel char with a slight vegetal hint persist. A final note of iced buns too.

    Overall

A complex though inviting Port Charlotte single malt we've got here.

Reviews for Port Charlotte 6 Year Old 2009 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)

    Aggressive, Vegetal, Delicious

An incredibly 'green' whisky - which would do it a huge disservice were it not for the massive backbone of peat propping the whole thing up. Incredibly mezcal-esque in its delivery. Delicious.
