Old Islay Bruichladdich 20 Year Old 2005 - Decadent Drams (Decadent Drinks)
A 20-year-old Bruichladdich single malt built from a marriage of first-fill bourbon and Sauternes casks, bottled at 53% ABV. This is unapologetically dense stuff, very earthy, saline, slightly chaotic, and packed with umami weight. The Sauternes adds a darker, sweeter edge, but it never softens the whisky’s more muscular side.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Earthy, spicy, waxy, leathery, with tar, game and a faint medicinal edge.
Palate
Oily and intense, with waxes, mechanical notes, dark honey, cedar and subtle medicinal touches.
Finish
Long, savoury and slightly salty, with tar, dark fruit and lingering sweetness.
