Octomore 16.4 marks a first for the .4 series, combining barley grown at Octomore Farm with maturation in bourbon barrels and virgin French oak casks. The five-year-old whisky remains unapologetically heavily peated, but the cask combination brings toasted wood, coffee, chocolate, baked fruit, and spice around the smoke. The locally grown barley adds an earthy note beneath it all.

Nose
Intense peat smoke, caramelised French oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, baked apple, pear, and honey.
Palate
Toasted oak, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, sweet smoke, stewed orchard fruit, and rain-soaked earth.
Finish
Toasted wood, baking spice, smoke, fruit, and sea salt.
