We can't actually ship Octomore 09.1 5 Year Old to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that). In the meantime, our friends over at The Whisky Shop might be able to help you out. Thank you for your support and understanding 🙂 -The folks at Master of Malt

An enjoyably punchy and heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich's Octomore range. Octomore 09.1 sets out to challenge the idea that older means better when it comes to whisky, and it does so by offering up a 5 year old Islay whisky weighing in at 156 PPM, matured in ex-American whiskey casks. Pleasing, they've even let us know exactly where those casks came from - they were 51% Jim Beam, 26% Jack Daniel's, 15% Clermont and 8% Old Grand-Dad casks.
Nose: Baked earth, peanut shells, charred oak and burnt sugar.
Palate: Surprisingly light at first with honeyed florals and oily walnut, before layers of smoke and wet grass appear.
Finish: Coastal air and chocolate digestives dipped in coffee.

Look. Cut the verbosity. If you like your whisky smoky this will numb your lips. It is peat in stilts.

I would just love to have a full description as to why this drink "lacks complexity, depth etc etc" It's a bloody drink, and quite a nice one too! But maybe I'm a little to simplistic to be an adequate critic.

So this lacks so much going from 5 stars to just half a star?..

I tried several Octomore releases and this one lacks complexity, depth and overall flavour. What was wrong with the award winning 8.1 release?
