This is an interesting one. Octomore Comus is peated to an immense 167ppm, then finished in sauternes casks. This has succeeded in taming the beast somewhat, but it's still a powerful, peaty dram.

The opening is a combination of peat smoke, bracken, leather, tobacco and waves. This develops into toffee and nutty notes from the oak.
The Grand Cru Sauterne flavours of pear syrup, plump bursting grapes, guava, passion fruits and cantaloupe come through on the palate with a dusting of icing sugar.
Peat and smoke with the sweet notes leading the way through the finish.
An interesting idea that has produced a well-executed, balanced Bruichladdich.
