2017's Special Release Brora is the sixteenth in the series from this celebrated closed coastal distillery. Distilled in 1982, by which time far less peat was being used than during previous decade, it spent over 34 years in refill American oak hogsheads. 3,000 bottles have been produced.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Soft and fruity at first, not much smoke here, but with briney umami hints redolent of sushi rolls. That may sound a little odd, but it's great - the fruit is absolutely leading the way here though.
Fruitiness follows over onto the palate of this one with sweet nuts and a little chocolate in support.
Macadamia nuts and peanut skin on an earthier finish with sweet citrus hinting at the fruity vein that runs throughout.
