    Brenne French Single Malt Whisky

Launched in 2012 by Allison Parc, collaborating with a French distiller in Cognac, Brenne French Single Malt Whisky is something quite special indeed. It's made with malted barley grown in Cognac, double distilled, then initially matured in Limousin oak casks before enjoying a finishing period in Cognac casks. Each bottle is drawn from a single cask and is bottled at 40% ABV. Rather cool stuff indeed.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Great

Delicious! people have a hard time accepting non scotch whisky for what it is,-just not a scotch

    Awful

What is this? Is it even whisky? Tastes like a banana milkshake. Glad it was just a dram from pour and sip, not a £60 bottle.

Malt with an Oo la la!

This is the coolest whiskey I think I’ve ever tried. It’s a single malt cognac cross with a delightful flowery nose and lovely finish. No doubting it’s a malt but you’d be forgiven for slipping in an oo la la when you first taste it. I’m on my third bottle now.

    Mild and different

Doesn't pack the punch of a Scotch but very enjoyable, almost sweet. A firm favourite and worth a try as a dessert drink.

    Dave Henderson Apr 29, 2022

    Fair

Awkward whisky. I really couldn’t figure it out. It was certainly not bad by any means. I enjoyed it at times. But usually when I enjoyed it was after dinner or later in the evening. The cognac flavor is very prominent to me. Sweet vanilla forward. Weakfish at 40% ABV but tasted/felt more like 32%. Absolutely no punch to it whatsoever. It was disappointing as a whisky but enjoyed it as an aperitif or dessert drink. Couldn’t handle water let alone ice. Usually I’m happier with a bottle the further I get into it but not this one. Bought it on a whim but wouldn’t buy it again and certainly wouldn’t recommend it.
