Braeval 25 Year Old 1990 (cask 11008) - Xtra Old Particular (Douglas Laing)

Braeval, as it's now known, is a distillery in Speyside that was founded in 1973 as Braes of Glenlivet. This is an independent bottling of their 25 year old single malt Scotch whisky, presented by Douglas Laing as part of their Xtra Old Particular. It was distilled in May 1990 and left to age in a refill hogshead until December 2015, when it was bottled with an outturn of just 9 bottles(!).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Buttery and honey'd, with a touch of smoky barrel char peeking through.

    Palate

Clove and cinnamon open the palate, before making way for barley sweeties and more rich, fresh honey.

    Finish

Coffee bean bitterness and sugary Crème brûlée.
