Royal Brackla 13 Year Old Palo Cortado Firkin Finish (Integrity Malts)
A 13-year-old Royal Brackla single malt independently bottled by Integrity Malts. The whisky received a four-month finish in a first-fill Palo Cortado firkin, with the small cask increasing the rate of interaction between spirit and oak. Bottled from a single cask at 54.5% ABV, only 66 bottles were released without chill filtration or added colour. This is the drier, nuttier counterpart to Integrity Malts’ oloroso-finished sister cask.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sour cherry, maraschino, orange oil, toasted almonds, walnut brittle, marzipan, figs, and cocoa.
Palate
Brown sugar, toffee, dried cherry, walnut, dark chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, and bitter orange.
Finish
Fruit cake, toasted nuts, cocoa, cherry preserve, and citrus zest.
