From Box Distillery, the Box Quercus I Robur is the first of a range designed to explore the tastes that different species of oak can have on whisky. The first edition is named Robur after the Latin name for European Oak, Quercus robur.
Distilled between 3rd October and 12th October 2012, this single malt whisky was first matured in 200-litre bourbon casks for just over 4 years, before it was finished for 7 months in 40-litre casks of virgin Quercus robur. Bottled at 50.8% in September 2017 with an outturn of 229 bottles, this interesting Swedish whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured
