Bowmore No.1 is produced using single malt Scotch whisky drawn exclusively from first-fill bourbon casks, imparting a creamy sweetness which blends well with the robust Islay smoke that Bowmore is known for.
Nutella on brown bread, sea salt and a hint of lemon zest.
Vanilla notes are up front and sweet (though earthy vanilla pod does appear after a minute). Plenty of coastal peat smoke.
Lingering smokiness.
I have no idea what some of these negative comments are on about. It is the sweetest, full flavoured whisky that I have tasted. Pure heaven. Vanilla sweetness, cinnamon spice and oak smoke beautifully complement the mouth watering citrus, honeycomb and coconut flakes, culminating in a peat smoked, bourbon, vanilla and lime finish.... what is there not to like. I love it.
Just not good enough. There is some good stuff in this to appreciate, but overpowered by a harsh mentol note (cheap alcohol). If this is meant to be a warm introduction to the brand, it fails. I hope that Bowmore will up there game on this NO.1. Honest reviews help with that, so this is mine. Cheers x
Sweet toasted oats, citrus at the seaside, vanilla and fruitcake, soft gentle smoke, not in your face, this is an easy malt to like.
First sniff of this reminded me of Izal medicated toilet paper, and now I can’t drink it without that in my mind. Carbolic acid smell. Will have to mix with something to get rid
This one wasn't really for me. Sweet and lightly smoky on the nose but had horrible burn and not a very long after taste, was really missing the depths of flavour I was looking for on this, I paid £30 for a bottle but I wouldn't pay again unless it was on offer maybe
