Bowmore No.1 is produced using single malt Scotch whisky drawn exclusively from first-fill bourbon casks, imparting a creamy sweetness which blends well with the robust Islay smoke that Bowmore is known for.
Nutella on brown bread, sea salt and a hint of lemon zest.
Vanilla notes are up front and sweet (though earthy vanilla pod does appear after a minute). Plenty of coastal peat smoke.
Lingering smokiness.

I got given this by mistake as I was expecting a Bowmore 12 y.o My disappointment in getting the wrong bottle seemed to affect my first tasting as I thought it was harsh and lacking the subtlety of 12 y.o, but repeated samplings firmly changed my mind. It's a great addition to the Bowmore range, whisky that manages to combine creamy caramel, vanilla and smoky undertones to perfection. It probably won't replace 15 y.o. as my go to malt, but at less than £30 a bottle it will keep me well away from supermarket own labels.
in the price range here in Italy (25 euros) it can't be beat. I was a bit worried about trying it, but it's a lovely luxurious whisky that goes very well on a dark and stormy autumn night. It's no laphroaig 10, but it's certainly nicer than the Laphroaig Select NAS.
Don't tell me this is replacing the Bowmore 12yo as a NAS.
