From Douglas Laing's Xtra Old Particular range comes a 25 year old Bowmore single malt, drawn from a single refill hogshead! That cask was filled up in May 1995, and set aside to slumber for a quarter of a century. In June 2020, Douglas Laing cracked it open and bottled it up with an outturn of only 302 bottles. If very old Islay whisky is your thing, this is for you.
Fresh with a salty/maritime style, developing to barley and just a hint of peat smoke and iodine.
Wonderfully balanced - that typical Islay meaty/charcoal style alongside muscovado sugar, marmalade and vanilla cream.
Lingering with puffs of smoke and dry earth with a warming, spiced oak character.
