Bowmore 18 Year Old D&C Bottling Note

A "deep & complex" 18 year old single malt from the excellent Bowmore distillery on Islay, matured in both Oloroso and Pedro Ximenéz casks. This was originally launched for the Travel Retail Market in the first half of 2017.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Blackberry and rhubarb crumble, zesty citrus peels drenched in Sherry, a good pinch of sea salt.

Palate: Smoky peat, developing into toasty oak and dried fruit richness.

Finish: Massively chocolatey on the finish.

Bowmore 18 Year Old - Deep & Complex Reviews

Will buy again

Trued no1, 10yo, this one is by far better. Depth where it should be, aftermath as it should be.

Not deep and certainly not complex

Nose is fruity at first (plum, dry fruits) then it goes towards citrus and iodine.
Mouth is light in texture, watery. Some dry fruits again, citrus, light peat and a bit of oakyness. A bit peppery. Very unidimensional.
finish is VERY short. Falls flat, with hints of leather and smoke, tobacco leafes.
This Bowmore lacks everything from Bowmore. Not punchy, not peppery enough. Not deep at all and complexity is what least qualifies this whisky. I had to measure the alcohol proof to be sure it was 43%. It's lighter in body than the legend. I really regret I bought this one in duty free. False advertisement all the way.

5/5

Along with Tempest, this is my favourite affordable Bowmore.

I like him, too!

Ahhh... a peated, PX cask single malt; what a piece of joy!

It's a good one, too! Loads of fruit and chocolate - bigger and richer than Arnold Schwarzenegger and smoother than a well greased Leslie Phillips!

If you've previously found yourself uncertain about peated whisky, this will definitely cure you.

I like him! Better than the normal 18s.
