This eight-year-old single malt from Blair Athol joins the Benchmark collection from indie bottler Murray McDavid. Distilled in 2015, the whisky initially matured in bourbon hogsheads before finishing in a combo of first-fill Port and Madeira casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Summer fruits and berries, buttery oak, candied nuts, biscuity malt.

Palate Rich notes of cherries join floral layers of honeyed stone fruits, with a touch of peppercorn warmth beneath.

Finish Creamy notes of milk chocolate, a touch of nougat and sweet cakey spice.

Superb
I bought this as a birthday present for myself. What a superb whisky! The tasting notes are spot on. My wife likes it and she is not generally a whisky drinker (prefers bourbon) and she said it was something like a brandy, which I can understand. This is the first bottle I have had from Murray McDavid, and it has me wondering what other delights they offer.
