Wine Cask
Cask-finished Blair Athol from James Eadie, distilled in 2007 and matured for 13 years! Before it was bottled at cask strength in 2021, the single malt was finished in a European oak first-fill ex-Marsala hogshead for 25 months, imparting classic dessert wine sweetness and juicy fruit notes.
Maple syrup, oily orange, and lots of honeyed fruit, with red fruit coulis and cocoa.
Rich and unctuous – caramelised almonds, toffee apple, and dried mango alongside dark honey.
Orange chocolate, more caramelised nuts, and apple turnover.

Tried this in the Eadie sample pack. I disagree with the tasting notes here. Didn't get chocolate, toffee or honey. I found it more redolent of berry, wine and, actually, grapes. It's punchy! I tried it alongside the North Star B.A (14 years and PX finished). The latter's more my kind of thing, with toffee sweetness. This one is less obviously seductive, imo. However, there are some absolute crackers in their range (Glenlossie; Inchgower; Caol Ila)
