Blair Athol 11 Year Old - Vino de Color (Brig O' Perth)
An independent Brig O' Perth bottling of Blair Athol single malt, matured for 11 years, including a finish in an antique Vino de Color cask. At around 150 years old, the cask is believed to be one of only a few remaining that still contained the rich, sticky, sherry-based wine, and it's certainly done its work imparting both impressive colour and character to the whisky within.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Ginger cake and burnt biscuits, chocolate raisins, roasted coffee beans, a hint of anise and plum.
Palate
Heaps of dark fruits with cherries and plums, honey, and treacle toffee. More dense, stewed orchard fruits, rich oak, and cacao follow.
Finish
Sticky dried sherried fruits remain, joined by chocolate almonds and coffee grounds.
