A 10 year old Flora and Fauna bottling from Bladnoch, Scotland's southernmost distillery. This Lowlander is rather woody and spicy with some lovely cereal notes, though this bottling will be discontinued.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
The nose has a curious mix: notes of ester and cooked fruit with burnt white sugar, there is a firmness and with it something vaguely vinous. The palate is quite full and oaky, but with sweet spices creeping forward and a cereal, biscuity feel. Some port perhaps, here and there and lots of wood. The finish is a touch premature, but nonetheless pleasant, this can sometimes be the way of things, curiously, wood still lingers.

I have still got a bottle in the wooden box which I bought over 25 years ago from the Distillery before it closed Regards Alf
When this comes back into stock grab a bottle while you can. It is a truly superb Lowland whisky - full citrus nose and barley biscuit taste. A lowland whisky does not mean inferior or lightweight it can be, and in this case is, every bit a masterpiece as a heavy full blown Islay. Superb stuff!
