Benromach Triple 2009

The Benromach distillery in Forres has unveiled its first foray into triple distillation! This 2009 vintage single malt was distilled once in a wash still then twice in a spirit still, and was matured in first fill bourbon barrels until 2017 when it was bottled at 50% ABV. Triple distillation isn't all that common with Scotch whisky, particularly not for whisky from the Speyside region. An intriguing release indeed.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Chai latte, lime peel and a whiff of rum-like spiciness.

Palate Dark chocolate, menthol and a dash of smoke. Creamy vanilla keeps this rather boisterous trio of flavours in check.

Finish Citrus returns on the finish in the shape of fresh grapefruit. Still chocolatey.

Reviews for Benromach Triple Distilled 2009
Something new to try.
A really interesting Benromach, quite a departure from their already wide range. Love the peppery flavour on the mid palate. Very nice clean finish. 50% ABV as well.
