Filthy Smoke 10 Year Old

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Rainwater on a bonfire begins an elegant but powerful nose. Rich peaty notes waft throughout as perfumed fruits and wood shavings linger.

Palate: Citrus rinds bring a tart sharpness to smoked cheeses and ham, as a little red berry sweetness tames the thick ashy backdrop.

Finish: A little menthol thyme grows with confidence.

Benromach Peat Smoke 2008 (bottled 2018) Reviews

Rough but interesting

Nose: Not very peated. More like grappa: a sweet, raisin like smell with presence of alcohol and other chemicals.
Taste: First somewhat peppery, then an oily character with a bit of smoke. Finally, some oak bitterness. Medium long after taste. A dash of water makes the smoke last a bit longer.

A little rough - this will not replace my Islays; but an interesting whisky with its own character.
