Benromach
Scotland
Single Malt
An Organic single malt Scotch whisky from the Benromach distillery, which was distilled in 2010, matured in virgin oak casks and bottled in 2016. A popular expression from the distillery in Speyside...
Rounded vanilla, pineapple and barley sugar sweets.
Malt is still present, coffee bean and dark chocolate. Citrus peels.
Clean and quite refreshing.
For a speyside whisky to be, I like it alot. Nose and taste are exciting and interesting. Dark chocolate is present and steels a lot of the nose (TiaMaria) Taste a bit of rosin, round and mild fruity taste. One to have and a GREAT speyside whisky ?
A mellow opening features a melange of notes with biscuit tones embracing dry fruits with a promise of vanilla that subsides even as it appears. Malt midnotes support deeper moccha basenotes but this is a very well mannered whisky with prosaic attitudes that allow the sense of understated refinement even as one quaffs. What it lacks in vigour or depth it compensates with comfortable charm. Not a great dram it is a pleasant distraction while one waits for a greater dram to appear.
Good, not great. Falls under my motto "I hate no Scotch". This was very drinkable but uninspiring. It really tasted young. Nice citrus and cinnamon notes, smooth oak and then not much. Certainly not a dram over which to ponder the universe, organic or not.
To correct some mistakes from previous comment ... Well done Benromach (For this Organic product)! I was so curious about what would be a 100% Organic Single Malt, matured in virgin oak, for few years, without influence from wine or bourbon or anything else, but only malt and oak. It is the more close that we have from genuine Malt I presume. I'm far from being an expert, but I was surprised with the creamy body, with malt and oak, some spicy and reminiscence of bourbon (perhaps not bourbon but instead, the virgin oak influence, that affects both bourbon and all those drinks that were matured in virgin oak including this good stuff Benromach organic). Any whisky fan should try it. Bought a bottle in MoM (Master of Malt) and I'm very happy with the service (good storage, quick delivery, impeccable) F
