Another gloriously old-school release from Benromach, bottled straight from the cask at a punchy 59.7% ABV. Matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks, this 2014 vintage combines rich fruit and spice with the distillery’s trademark wisp of smoke. Non-chill filtered and natural colour, naturally.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Rich sherry-soaked fruitcake, orange marmalade, cinnamon sticks, and toasted barley, with distant bonfire smoke.
Palate
Stewed berries, dark honey, nutmeg, and milk chocolate give way to charred oak, black pepper, and smoked nuts.
Finish
Drying spice, cocoa, and a final curl of earthy peat smoke.
