Benromach 2014 Unpeated
A fascinating twist on the house style from Benromach released as part of the Contrasts series. Benromach 2014 Unpeated ditches the distillery’s trademark soft Speyside peat influence entirely to allow the spirit’s fruitier, more delicate side to step into the spotlight. Distilled in 2014 and matured for nine years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, it’s a brilliantly bright Speysider bottled at 46% ABV with natural colour.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Vanilla fudge, candied pineapple, honeyed cereal, and lemon peel, with touches of liquorice root and fresh herbs.
Palate
Creamy malt, poached orchard fruit, and soft toffee sweetness develop into ginger spice, citrus oils, and a little fennel complexity.
Finish
Cooling menthol, white pepper, and lingering vanilla cream.
