Single Malt
Benromach
Scotland
The 10 year old from Gordon and MacPhail's Benromach distillery. This was matured for the first nine years in 4/5 bourbon and 1/5 sherry casks before a year in sherry casks.
Dry, barley, big on malt and oak. Dry pine, fruity. A tad spirity. Sweet spices after a time and a hint of puckering prune from the sherry cask and maple fudge.
Barley, slightly herbal, a little fruit, grassy. Big on malt, ground ginger.
Mouthwateringly bittersweet. Ginger, dry sherry, almost hoppy after a while.
A great whisky, its maturity belies its 10 years of age and the sherry finish has done wonders.

Great whisky when you want a little bit of everything. Sherry, but not too much, a little hint of peat smoke but nothing like Islay. If you like Highland Park 12 you will appreciate this too.
Found this to be virtually undrinkable. Very rough and unpleasant in the mouth, even when taking a very small sip. Certainly the worst whisky I have tasted. Makes Bells look sophisticated.
The Benromach 10 is a very approachable well balanced combination of bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks with a mildly peated spirit that is not overpowering but adds another layer of complexity. Just like his big brother the more pronounced 100 proof this is also a complex luscious and balanced mix of creamy vanilla, chocolate, dark fruits, the slightly savory smoke of bonfire ember and bbq which over time develops beautifully into aromas and flavors of roasted fresh coffee beans, nuts and a hint of salted caramel. This has a beautiful nose on it like the 100 proof and if you let it rest and breathe a bit the hint of savory smoke of bonfire embers and bbq will develop into freshly roasted coffee beans, nuts and salted caramel. The Benromach 10 is bottled at 43%, it is also non-chill filtered and non-colored just as traditionally distilled whisky is supposed to be. Independent bottler and owner of Benromach Distillery Gordon & MacPhail treated this spirit with respect and it is a rewarding one for people who love and enjoy a good whisky. No need for water in this whisky here it is very well matured in good casks, though it can take a drop of water, which changes the complexity, because it is bottled at 43% and non-chill filtered for a fuller flavor profile. Very special and unique indeed.
Tried a good variety of Scots whiskey... 209 from Soeyside, highlands, lowlands and all the islands... Thus is pure gold... You can taste the organic quality, the maltiness... Butter scotch and full malt roundness
Incredible whiskey!! One of THE top drams of Speyside and it's distillery is something to be highly proud of!! Full of malty honey and green apple delight!!
