Benrinnes - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

This is 'That Boutique-y Whisky Company's' first Benrinnes. This indomitable distillery has suffered floods, fires and bankruptcy yet has soldiered on and still producers fine malt whisky to this day.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, bourbons, blended malts and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.

The label features Pete McPeat and Jack Washback off of that there whiskyfun.com, having a one-sided conversation about the distillation process at Benrinnes up until 2007/2008 (riveting we know!).

202 bottles of this batch were produced.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A fat aroma of stewing peaches and lychees dominates the nose with side notes of a just opened packet of juicy sultanas and moist fruit cake. Positively enchanting!

    Palate

Silky and oily with reduced tropical fruit juices, fireworks, grape juice and a sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg.

    Finish

Lingering firework smoke, rhubarb, passion fruit and peaches in a full-bodied and fruity finish.

    Overall

Big and fruity with fireworks to boot. This is a flavour bomb of a dram that is instantly gratifying and supremely delectable.

Hey there. We don't add anything to our whisky, so any cask enhancements would have been done by the distillery, not us. --The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Povilas (whisky-bros.lt)

Aroma: poweful caramel at the start. Maple syrup, cramelized sugar. Bit of rum style. Spicy raisins, other dried fruits. Apricot, mandarine, grapes jam. With water comes more raisins. Palate: oak tannins, spices, damp earth. Some hints of steel, struck matches. Oily. Jam of mixed fruits. Finish: fruity and spicy with lots of raisins and cacao. Comments: very deep aroma and palate. Interesting notes of steel and struck matches. This time I kind of liked it. Multidimmensional one. I am sure it has it's fans.
