From the delightful Darkness range comes a 13 year old single produced by the brilliant Benrinnes Distillery! As with the rest of the Darkness bottlings, whisky whisky enjoyed a finishing period in a sherry octave cask (this one was a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave, to be specific), to impart a good helping of sherried notes.
Chocolate peanuts, soft dates, a hint of earthy coffee and maple syrup.
Oaty chocolate chip cookies, stewed plums and pears, honey, clove and butterscotch.
Just a hint of smoke sneaks through the sherried malt.
