Alistair Walker
Scotland
Single Malt
An indie bottling of Benrinnes, distilled in 2006 before it was left to age in a single hogshead. 13 years came and went, until in 2019 the single malt was bottled by the Alistair Walker Whisky Company for the Infrequent Flyers series. The hogshead yielded 276 bottles, and the whisky has been presented at a weighty 59% ABV.
Golden barley with maple syrup, liquorice and lemon peel.
Lots of sweet ginger, peaches and cream with almond pastries and caramelised apple.
A spiced finish with vanilla cream and marmalade.

Took a punt on this as it was in the flash sale and sounded intriguing. Sometimes gambles pay off. This stuff is phenomenal! At cask strength it packs a solid punch and you will need water to open it up but boy oh boy does it deliver. All the notes by the chaps at M.O.M are bang on. The ripe peach leads out with Manuka honey and floral heather following. The mouth feel is rich and oily and the finish is long. For the price I was expecting good things but this is a treasure. I'm torn between further exploring the infrequent flyers bottlings or re ordering another of these to keep sealed and treasure.
