Benrinnes 11yo MoM Xmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and here at MoM Towers, picking out a whisky for you all to enjoy over the festive season has been top of the to-do list. We've had our eye on this one for a while, it's a single malt from Benrinnes, initially allowed to mature for 10 years in a scrum-diddly-umptious ex-Oloroso sherry cask. As if that wasn't Christmas-y enough, we've gone and given it a year in ex-Pedro Ximenez octaves... Double sherry! At 11 years old, it's picked up plenty of decadent fruit and spice to accompany the biscuity, chocolatey malt at its core. A splendid Yuletide sipper, and a top gift for a whisky lover. A release of 541 bottles, and like all Master of Malt bottlings, this one is 100% natural colour and non-chill filtered.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Sweet, dense fruit loaf, honeyed almonds, and jammy berries support richly sherried oak, with treacly toffee, candied orange wheels, and a floral hint of hibiscus.

Palate Sticky toffee and oily barley open the way, with chewy oak and softly sweet baking spice in tow. There's toasted marzipan and tangy cranberries too, leading to sherried fruitcake and a touch of nutmeg.

Finish Stewed, honeyed stone fruits linger, with milk chocolate Brazil nuts, biscuity malt, a touch of redbush tea, drying clove, a smidge of black pepper, and nutty maple syrup.

Reviews for Benrinnes 11 Year Old (Master of Malt Christmas Bottling)
Super
I really enjoyed. I have tried this whisky & Aberlour (the closest Speyside match) side by side. There is an extra layer of nose, palate and finish of honeyed stone fruits linger and /or nutty maple syrup. This may be because of matured in Oloroso sherry & Pedro-Ximenez casks.
