Sherry
This 2008 vintage Benrinnes has seen over a decade of ageing, including a 36 month finish in a single first fill European oak Oloroso sherry butt. It was independently bottled at 11 years old in 2020 by James Eadie, with a release of 563 bottles at a cask strength of 59.9% ABV.
Big, tangy and earthy, combining zesty orange peel and thick marmalade with dark chocolate-coated raisins, juicy black cherries, manuka honey and maple syrup.
A rich initial wave of manuka honey, oats and toffee mixes with the familiar orange zest and raisins, plus a touch of woodspice. Water brings out softer notes of stewed apples and pears.
Gentle and juicy, ending on cloves, cinnamon and apples.

I absolutely loved this, so much so I went back for a second bottle! Big sherried flavours with a cask strength punch. The James Eadie bottlings are excellent, but this has been my favourite so far.
