Nose

Slightly doughy. Toffee chip biscuits. Floral.

Palate

Rounded, good sweetness. A whiff of peat.

Finish

Barley, biscuity, slightly drying.

pleasant if uncomplicated

I've got a second bottle so it cannot be that bad. Reminiscent flavour wise of a blend like Bells or Teachers or one of those, but with more body and sweetness. I like it as a pre-dinner sharpener. The first couple drams out the bottle were sweet and nothing more but it eventually opened up. Makes a pleasant change to chewing a heavy Islay malt. Sweetish but not overly.

Remaining Retro Unlikely To Be Rebirthed

This is EXACTLY how very good reasonably priced malt whisky used to taste 40 years ago (my recollection) and quite possibly a long, long, long, time before.. Quality Distillate Matured In Quality Casks. Never for the [feint]-hearted..

Not as good as it used to be

The old 10 year was far superior to this attempt at a 15 year old, lacked character, very little on the nose, nothing noteworthy on the palate. Unworthy of the name Benrinnes, unfortunately we are quite disappointed. Very light in colour, had this not have come through Master of Malt I would say we had been conned.

Quite nice

Good value for a 15yo using BOGOHP, a little more spirity-nippy for it's age and alcohol percentage than I prefer and there is more than just a whiff of peat about it but not unpleasant, each to their own. I would not purchase it again as not one of my favourite 15yo malts.

Excellent

Got as a gift. My standard is 15 year old glenfidich. Also, love glendronach 15 and Glenmorangie 12. This was a step above most of these. Maybe not as sweet tasting as Glenfidich but still lovely. It’s definitely ‘fire water’ and I’ll be buying again.
