A 'partially' triple-distilled Speysider, this single malt from the Benrinnes distillery was bottled at 15 years for the Flora and Fauna series.
Slightly doughy. Toffee chip biscuits. Floral.
Rounded, good sweetness. A whiff of peat.
Barley, biscuity, slightly drying.

Nose is nicely complex. Toffee/caramel and herby. Taste is wonderful, not too sweet and not too dry. Good depth. Some of the caramel, but subtle. Quite a long finish which ends dry. Very good at the price.
Just like honey on toast. Brilliant!
Recently, I've been enjoying several of Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice whiskies - they are 46%, non-chillfiltred and natural colour. So, this Flora and Fauna 15 yo Benrinnes is a bit of a travel back in time - it's 43%, chillfiltered and had added colour. However, it is, nonetheless, a very fine dram. It has an attractive (if artificial) colour, the nose is heavy with sherry and toffee and the palate quite dry, perfumy and smoky. All in all, a whisky to savour.
Outstanding .. Not since I tasted Jamesons Gold in 2002 have i enjoyed such a whisky .. Within seconds it chased the chill out of both myself and the young blonde I had the good fortune to share with.
Nose: raisin, caramel (not too much). Palate: a hit of mint and then powdered chocolate; then sweetness. The finish is quite long and pleasant.
