A fab 10 year old single malt from Benriach, released as part of a new core range launched in 2020. The Original Ten was matured in a trio of casks - bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak casks - imparted a bounty of honeyed fruit and softly toasted oak notes, alongside just a hint of smoke (if you're looking for something a little more peaty, you'll want to check out The Smoky Ten, too!). Nectarine, honeydew melon, vanilla sponge with cream and jam and a touch of cedar.
More baked goods - now croissants dipped in milky coffee and cinnamon rolls. Still packs plenty of creamy orchard fruits notes, plus a waft of earthy peat.
Nutty malt, vanilla pod and apricot remains.

Very good cask management and blending done here. Bravo, Rachel Barrie! An impressive entry level release. This malt is head and shoulders above something like Glenmorangie 10 or Glenfiddich 12. I consider Benriach 10 a perfect option for daily sipping, but not more than that. You really get what you pay for here, optimal bang for the buck.
A stunning whisky, ideal as a follow on after say starting on Glenfiddich and then finding the extreme peaty Islays too strong
